This series of works by artist Anna Lecchi presents a selection of highly traditional subjects within the history of art. On the one hand, the vase of flowers, a subject reminiscent of still life, on the other, the reclining nude, a subject rooted in the 16th century. The three works, therefore, represent a type of subject matter linked to reproduction from life, that is, the recording of sensory data the painter sees before her eyes. However, the choice of these subjects, paradoxically, indicates Anna Lecchi's desire to go beyond the simple reality indicated by the senses, to infuse the work with a more complex type of perception and a deeper exploration of reality. In this complex investigation, the artist seeks to go beyond what is perceived by the senses (the phenomenon) to represent the very idea of ​​the subject, as it is conceived (the noumenon), drawing on one of the cornerstones of Cubist aesthetics. It is clear, in fact, that the painter's chosen language is linked to the great avant-garde movement pioneered by Picasso and Braque. The subjects are thus created through a process of abstraction and geometric reconstruction, inserted into a non-unique space, constructed from multiple perspectives and viewpoints. All this allows Anna Lecchi to provide a complete representation of the subjects, in their possible developments in time and space. However, this artist's Cubism presents its own original inclination, in which we note a particular attention to polychromy. Her works, in fact, are distinguished by the balance and harmony of bright, luminous colors. As we can see from the analysis of these three paintings, the painter Anna Lecchi, in her research, clearly draws on Cubist aesthetics in her own personal interpretation based on a polychromy of colors full of light.
