Antonio Asturi was a painter originally from Vico Equense, where he was born in 1904 and passed away in 1986. Self-taught, after a brief Futurist interlude he returned to figurative painting. He was strongly attracted to the work of Antonio Mancini. In addition to oil, he also used tempera and Indian ink extensively. Throughout his career, he enjoyed great acclaim and popularity. His work ranged from figures to landscapes, from portraits to still lifes. His carriages and views of the Sorrento coast are famous. He also explored the theme of urban landscapes, with views of cities such as Paris, Barcelona, ​​Venice, and Athens, employing a pictorial language with a post-impressionist feel.
