Description of the work
Description of the work
The human figure has always been at the center of artistic research. Since the classical age, the naturalistic rendering of human anatomy has been a primary goal of painters and sculptors throughout history. The representation of the nude is the ultimate expression of this aspiration, pervasive across all eras and stylistic trends. Indeed, in addition to the naturalistic interpretations of the Renaissance and various classicisms, which aimed for a truthful and detailed representation of the human body, the nude has also been a central theme in the new aesthetic concepts brought about by the historical avant-garde movements, such as Cubism, Expressionism, and Surrealism.
Antonio Bonomi's style leans toward a concise and essential representation. His pictorial approach, with its Symbolist overtones, does not seek a naturalistic rendering. Indeed, Bonomi is not interested in reproducing from life; instead, she focuses on the exaltation of formal values and plasticity. In this sense, his technique is excellent in reproducing almost sculptural figures, permeated by reflections and reflections of light. Conceptually, the representation acquires an enigmatic atmosphere, placing it in a refined Symbolist dimension. Antonio Bonomi's paintings are complemented by abstract spaces that present dynamic compositions of chromatic impastos.
Antonio Bonomi, born in Turbigo in 1906 and died in 1961. Initially a student of his uncle Carlo, Bonomi became a professional painter during the twenty-year period, completely isolating himself from the art world of his time. In 1975, he emerged from his splendid isolation and entered various competitions, including 'L'Orbita' in Novara, where he won first prize in 1976.
