Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has always been an artist's aspiration. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the 16th century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism. A landscape painter par excellence, Antonio Di Viccaro focuses his attention on highly evocative locations such as Positano, the Amalfi Coast, the islands of the Gulf of Naples, and the Trulli of Alberobello.
Antonio Di Viccaro's landscapes always display the distinctive and highly personal pictorial language of the Lazio-born artist. Di Viccaro's painting style draws heavily from post-impressionist influences, where pictorial synthesis seeks to restore immediacy to the execution while also conveying the emotions arising from contemplation of the landscape. His views are always constructed through a complex application of material, including the use of a palette knife. In this way, Di Viccaro creates a multifaceted and multifaceted surface in which this dense, material color explores the structure of the objects, simultaneously blending them harmoniously with the space. The hues in Antonio Di Viccaro's landscapes are always bright and full of light.
Antonio Di Viccaro is a painter originally from Castelforte in the province of Latina. His painting career began in 1957 with several solo exhibitions in San Giovanni Valdarno, where he consistently received critical and public acclaim. His works are held in several public and private collections.
