Description of the work
Description of the work
Antonio Laccabue (known to all as Ligabue) was born on December 18, 1899, in Zurich, Switzerland, the son of Elisabetta Costa, a woman originally from Belluno, and Bonfiglio Laccabue, a man of Emilian origins (though the identity of his father has never been confirmed with certainty). Entrusted in September 1900 to a Swiss couple, Elise Hanselmann and Johannes Valentin Goebel, he lost his mother Elisabetta in 1913, when food poisoning also killed three of his siblings (Antonio, however, held his father responsible for Elisabetta's death, to the point of changing his surname to Ligabue out of hatred for him).
