Description of the work
Description of the work
It is a work of continuous excavation and reconstruction, seeking the profile of the human being in its archetypal form, captured in the moment of awareness of its universal being, bringing to light its most authentic and secret face, discovering not the defeat of life, but the stubborn and tenacious will to continue existing, even if shipwrecked, abandoned, or lost, despite time, despite everything. Laura Fusco
Antonio Nocera was born in Caivano (Naples) in 1949. He studied in Naples, taking courses in painting, set design, and sculpture. He developed an interest in leatherwork, ceramics, and all types of printing techniques (engraving, lithography, and silkscreening). In 1988, he moved to Rome and collaborated with the Italian Mint and Parliamentary Institutions. The following year, he was officially invited by the Committee for the Bicentenary of the French Revolution to hold an exhibition at the European Parliament in Strasbourg and then in Rome. He created highly representative institutional works for the Department for Archival and Library Heritage of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities. In 2007, he inaugurated a major solo exhibition, "Once Upon a Time…," featuring over 150 works, including sculptures, canvases, and drawings, at the Monumental Complex of San Michele a Ripa in Rome. In 2011 he participated in the 54th edition of the Venice Biennale with the installation Il naufragio.
