Antonio Nocera was born in Caivano (Naples) in 1949. He studied at the Art Institute and the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, taking courses in painting, set design, sculpture, leatherwork, ceramics, and all types of printing techniques. In 1970, he moved to Milan and exhibited at the Galleria la Ripa. In 1975, he was in Parma for a major exhibition on the Resistance at the Scuderie della Pilotta, which later traveled to Modena to the Civic Museums. In 1978, he designed the official poster for the Museum of the First Partisan Republic in Montefiorino (Modena). He subsequently held several exhibitions in France, Switzerland, Canada, and England, consolidating the "Pulcinella" movement. In 1988, he moved to Rome, where he collaborated with the Italian Mint and Parliamentary Institutions. In 1989, he was invited by the Committee for the Celebrations of the Bicentenary of the French Revolution to exhibit at the European Parliament in Strasbourg and then in Rome, under the patronage of the French Embassy. He held several solo exhibitions in Naples, Parma, and Paris, where he lived for several years, exhibiting at the Furstenberg Gallery and participating in the Saga FIAC. He alternated travels between Italy and Belgium, exhibiting at the St. Jacques and Liehrmann Galleries and presenting the precious volume "Le Petit Chaperon Rouge" at the Lineart Fair in Ghent. In 1997, he created a portfolio for Professor Luc Montagnier's World Foundation for AIDS Research under the auspices of UNESCO. In 1998, he created the official sculpture for the Eleventh World Congress of the International Association of Industrial Relations, held in Bologna. In April of the same year, he donated a bas-relief to the Holy Father John Paul II, entitled "Year 2000," and in March 1999, he created the volume "Gospels," created for the Jubilee. In 2000, he created a new series of works entitled "Lands of the Moon, Lands of Fable," and the exhibition series "Gospels in the Monasteries of Europe" began at the Monastery of San Giovanni in Parma. In 2001, he previewed his collection of jeweled sculptures "The Moon and the Zodiac" and the series "Pinocchio and the Moon," which subsequently toured internationally. In June 2002, he presented the illustrated volume "The Adventures of Pinocchio – Story of a Puppet" in Rome at the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities – Sala Alessandrina – Palazzo della Sapienza. He inaugurated the exhibition "Pinocchio et la lune" at the City Hall of Paris, then at the European Parliament in Brussels, with a presentation by the President of the Republic Giorgio Napolitano. In July 2003, he inaugurated a solo exhibition at the Pontifical Lateran University entitled "Sacred Images," on the occasion of the European Symposium "Universities and Schools in Europe." Coinciding with this event, on the 25th anniversary of his pontificate, he was received at Castel Gandolfo by His Holiness John Paul II. In 2005, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the INCA CGIL Patronage, he created several exclusive works and developed the logo for the occasion. With the blessing of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI, he placed the sculpture "Christus Patiens" at the Church of the Holy Spirit of the Neapolitans in Rome and inaugurated the exhibition dedicated to it. He created high-profile institutional works for the Department of Archival and Library Heritage of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities. In 2006, he created the bronze monument for the 50th anniversary of the tragedy in Marcinelle, Belgium, commissioned by the National Presidency of the INCA CGIL Patronage. On the occasion of his official visit to the Vatican on November 20, President Giorgio Napoletano presented His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI with a silver bas-relief from Nocera entitled "Peace." In 2007, the artist inaugurated his solo exhibition "Once Upon a Time..." in Rome, featuring over 150 works including sculptures, canvases, and drawings, at the Monumental Complex of San Michele a Ripa under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic, with the support of the Senate, the Chamber of Deputies, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, the Ministry of Education, and local authorities. The same exhibition was subsequently hosted at Palazzo Doria Pamphilj in Valmontone, the Royal Palace in Naples, the Lihermann Gallery in Liège, the Ex Aurum in Pescara, and the Pall Mall Gallery in London. In Rome, in 2010, he opened the exhibition "Beyond the Nest" at Trajan's Market. In 2011, he presented a monumental installation at the 54th Venice Biennale (Corderia dell'Arsenale, Tesa delle Vergini). In October of the same year, at the invitation of the Italian Ambassador, Antonio Morabito, he presented an installation titled "Beyond the Sea" on the esplanade of the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, inaugurated by HRH Caroline of Hanover. In November 2011, he was in Naples at The Apartment contemporary art. Subsequently, the Maestro exhibited at the Galerie l'Alge d'Airain in Monaco. In 2012, he presented "The Great Nest" in Milan, hosted by Palazzo Lombardia, on the occasion of the visit of Pope Benedict XVI, with a presentation by Professor Louis Godart. Subsequently, the exhibition "Beyond the Nest – Beyond the Sea" was hosted at the Santo Spirito Museum in Lanciano (PE) and then at the Sala dei Templari in Molfetta. In 2013, he inaugurated the exhibition "Pinocchio" at the Chance Art Gallery in Rome and exhibited his "Books of Water" at the 55th Venice Art Biennale, at the Monastery of San Nicolò on the Lido. In 2015, he was present at the Milan Expo – Eataly Pavilion, at the invitation of Vittorio Sgarbi; in May, at the ICI in London, he presented his new limited edition double volume “The Adventures of Pinocchio,” under the patronage of the Fondazione Nazionale Carlo Collodi and in collaboration with Editions Redberry Art London; the exhibition of this artist's book subsequently moved to Milan, at the Chiostri dell'Umanitaria, and then in September 2015 to Ca' Foscari in Venice. In October of the same year, he presented the exhibition “Beyond… the confines of the wave” at Castel dell'Ovo in Naples. Since 2016, he has been present in various luxury hotels with his “Emotional Paths,” featuring canvases and sculptures set in the gardens or suites, as part of the “Art meets Hospitality” project (Four Seasons Hotel in Florence, Hotel Il Principe di Savoia in Milan, Palazzo Petrucci in Naples, Il San Lorenzo in Rome, San Montano Resort in Ischia, Masardona in Rome). His "Pinocchio's Suitcase" was auctioned off in 2017 during the NIAF galas in Washington, D.C., along with his new artist's book, "Pulcinella," in 2018. In 2019, he presented his solo exhibition "Fairy Tales" in the Royal Apartments of the Royal Palace of Monza (Milan). In 2020, he exhibited "The Dream. Eternal Present" in the San Leone Hall in Pietrasanta (Lucca). A permanent solo exhibition of his work on Pinocchio is on display at the Dantocchio Museum in Florence.
