Zena - King Oliver's Creol Jazz Band 1921

Zena is the pen name of Antonio Zenadocchio, a painter originally from Frosinone but residing in L'Aquila. His work is characterized by a figurative language that draws innumerable inspiration from the complexity and variety of his compositions. Indeed, Zena moves between more distinctly surrealist representations, others with a more subdued tone, immersed in a symbolist silence, and others in which a sort of magical realism prevails. Across all his variations, however, a constant imagery grounded in pure objectivity remains, one that seeks not to imitate reality but to translate it into synthetic and iconic forms. Formally, this translates into a drawing with deeply marked lines containing compact chromatic areas in vibrant and brilliant tones.
