Description of the work
Description of the work
This work is inspired by Russian artist Kasimir Malevich's masterpiece "The Woodcutter," created in 1912 and housed at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. Malevich created his own version, modifying the scene by adding a character. However, the original character of the work is faithfully reproduced, a testament to Malevich's Cubo-Futurist phase, preceding the abstraction and geometric spirituality of Suprematism.
In "The Woodcutter," as this master's copy also demonstrates, the world is reconstructed according to a decidedly mechanomorphic aesthetic. The figures and natural space are structured according to rigorous geometric modules, yet with a magical, fairytale atmosphere that respects the Russian folk character of the subject.
The artist who created the copy shows that he has an excellent execution technique that allows him to faithfully reproduce Kasimir Malevich's model.
