Unknown artist - Figure of a saint

The work depicts an unspecified figure of a saint, given the presence of a halo. The subject does not have any iconographic characteristics that would allow us to attribute it to a specific figure.

The work displays excellent pictorial quality. The application of light washes renders the subject naturally, blending perfectly into the space of the work thanks to its nuanced forms. The figure, therefore, appears against a dark background, illuminated from our left. Compositionally, we note a certain archaic quality in the ostentatious elongation of the subject's proportions and a certain hardness in his features. This denotes a Flemish taste, also evident in the workmanship of the clothing.

From an analysis of the work, the artist could be identified stylistically as Italian, due to the accentuated pictorialism, made of transparent glazes, while culturally similar to Flemish art due to the aesthetic choices we find.
