Description of the work
Description of the work
This painting is part of a series in which Eros Kara Pintor explores allegorical meanings and can be defined, in some ways, as symbolist precisely because of its allusion to underlying meanings. Eros Kara's exploration of this type of subject matter can be traced back to the artistic language of late-nineteenth-century painters such as Moreau, Bocklin, or Puvis des Chavannes, who, while using a primarily figurative language, developed intellectually complex iconographies, full of symbolic and allegorical references. However, Eros Kara Pintor stands out significantly from these artists of the late-nineteenth-century and decadent movement. While the latter's themes were inspired by complex and refined literary quotations, Eros Kara's symbolism draws its lifeblood from the reality of everyday life, and the protagonists of his works are simple, popular characters.
Eros Kara Pintor is a painter deeply rooted in reality, which always appears in his paintings with a vein of romantic lyricism. In this work, the artist develops a sort of symbolic vision in which the image appears suspended, almost immobile and metaphysical. But through his remarkable figurative technique, Eros Kara manages to sublimate even these ordinary existences without ever abandoning a sincere realism. Eros Kara's style combines extraordinary drawing, capable of capturing every minute detail, with the brilliance of a luminous chromatic range. The pictorial form is lively, charged with vibrations.
Eros Kara Pintor is a painter originally from Nuoro, where he was born in 1929. He trained first in Milan, then in Rome, where he also worked for Cinecittà as a set designer and creating film posters. Eros Kara Pintor's success and popularity extended beyond painting, but also to graphic design and comics. He passed away in 2011.
