Description of the work
Description of the work
The genre of “Still Life” saw the light at the beginning of the 17th century. It consists
in the representation of compositions of inanimate subjects, in the majority
some of the cases flowers or fruit. If at the beginning of its history it was an occasion for the
painters to try their hand at a photographic reproduction of reality, with art
contemporary the “Still Life” also becomes a way of interpreting the
reality, as for the Cubists or Giorgio Morandi.
This representation of oranges is extremely concrete, of a realism
tangible. The work is characterized by a solid drawing structure, in which the
contours are identified by a strong plastic structure which determines
their concreteness and evidence. As regards the pictorial layout, then,
the artist fills these real presences with life through a treatment of colour
very complex and dynamic, which sometimes leads it to a distribution
material. Furthermore, the chromatic coherence in this work is extraordinary.
set on tonal gradations between green, dark yellow and orange, the
which make the poetry of an existence tied to the earth. The union that is
verification in this work between concreteness of structures and solidity of color
dense and material in a painting aimed at the genuineness of a rural world,
reveals a strong inspiration from the French painter Paul Cézanne.
The artist who created this painting has a generally post-impressionist style with a certain influence from the Frenchman Paul Cézanne.
