Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.

The aim of the artist who created these chromolithographs is to offer a simplified interpretation of reality, seeking new values of purity in representation. For this reason, his pictorial approach can be described as naïve, yet it is expressed through a highly classical and traditional style. His language, in fact, is essentially figurative and finds its broadest expression in the traditional genres of landscape painting. However, the artist manages to infuse his originality and personal touch even within tradition, precisely through his pursuit of purity of representation that defines his style. Concretely, this is expressed in a fluid technique, which resolves the subjects with a few, quick but incisive strokes. The objects almost dematerialize in the lightness of the glazes. From a chromatic perspective, too, the artist favors decidedly pale tones, full of light.
The artist moves within the realm of classical and figurative production, yet displays a certain naive attitude in composing his works. The desire to seek lightness and simplicity in representation is evident, with the aim of imbuing the artwork with primordial values of purity and innocence.
