The landscape presented by the painter references themes that have long filled the history of art: the marine genre. This genre offered painters the opportunity to explore specific representations, also to practice their technical skills in rendering color and light. Naturalistic figuration contributed to the evolution of this style. In this instance, the canvas is animated by a sense of agitation thanks to the vibration of light, which in its dark tones suggests a storm. The subjects are the sails, but in their proportional relationship, the human figure is also depicted inside a small rowboat landing on dry land.  The refined play of color, with its reflections and chromatic reverberations, makes the canvas a pleasing presentation, establishing a dynamic scenic rhythm that also conveys a sense of urgency. These Impressions derive from the painter's choice to use dark tones, lightened only by a beam of light that tends to accentuate the painting's shadows, rendering the scene dramatic. The artist's hand seems at ease with the image of a port where dusk is falling and a storm is forecast. We have not been able to trace the artist's artistic career, although on a stylistic level, the navy represents a figure with an understanding of the genre that is suited to that between the 20th and 21st centuries.
