Barth - Haiti

Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.

The work seems to reflect Barth's desire to create an expressionist landscape. Reality is interpreted in an extremely synthetic manner, with an almost brutal reduction, resulting in an abstract composition. The surface is completely two-dimensional, with no allowance for spatial depth. Color is used according to an emotional and spiritual interpretation, detached from reality.

Barth is the pseudonym used by Quinto Bartolomeo, a painter and modern art critic. Author of several essays and books, he has received numerous academic accolades: an honorary degree from the Pro Deo International University in New York, president of the Academy of European Community Studies, and a member of the Academic Senate of the International Academy of Modern Art. He is considered the founder of the "Logic of Forms" movement. He has exhibited his work in numerous exhibitions (Foreign Press, Rome – Galleria San Luca, Venice – Galleria Mouffe, Paris – Galleria Vallobresuse, Palm Beach, Florida – Mirvin Art in New York – Galleria Motte, Geneva – Galleria Modigliani, Milan – Artexpo, New York – San Francisco).
