For Betty Vivian, painting has been a passion she has cultivated since childhood. Her experience in Brazil was crucial to the development of her pictorial language. The images and colors of that part of the world have remained dear to her heart and are now central to her research, as are the emotions tied to those memories the painter seeks to convey in her works. All of this is condensed into a pictorial process in which the color unfolds on the canvas in long, thin streaks that generate iridescent reflections. The touch is soft, as if everything were shrouded in a veil of memory and emotion.
