Bruno Mangiaterra - Scorza

The work draws on an Informal aesthetic language. The devastation wrought by World War II left a profound mark on Western civilization, which in the visual arts also resulted in an inability to communicate. For some artists, this challenge led to a complete rejection of any visual language, resulting in the birth of Informal Art. The various Informal movements are certainly connected to American Abstract Expressionism, especially with regard to the gestural component, but they go further in their rejection of any figurative element, even geometric. Their research focuses instead on the material from which their works are composed.

Bruno Mangiaterra's informal art develops through a perceptive exercise. The artist begins by acquiring sensory data and reworks it according to his highly personal sensibility. Thus, the composition almost definitively loses all contact with phenomenal reality, translating into a pure transposition of matter and gesture. Bruno Mangiaterra seeks to capture the impression of the object, but this leads him to completely disintegrate the form and translate his perception directly into pictorial gesture. In this painting, the artist is able to create a chromatic material that seems alive, dynamic, and constantly evolving. In the intensity of colors that merge into a living organism, existence pulsates in bright, sudden flashes.

Bruno Mangiaterra was born in Loreto in 1952. During his studies, he frequently interacted with contemporary artists and art critics. Since 1973, a student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino, he has worked continuously, presenting his work in solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad. He lives and works in the Marche region, in Loreto (Ancona). He teaches Painting at the "E. Mannucci" Art School in Ancona. He has been featured several times by Giulio Turcato and has published art books and portfolios of engravings with texts by contemporary poets and philosophers, including Carla Clementi, Giacomo Luigi Busilacchi, Umberto Piersanti, Eugenio De Signoribus, Plinio Acquabona, Paolo Volponi, Gianni D'Elia, Giuseppe Cacciatore, Pasquale Venditti, Alessandro Catà, Francesco Scarabocchi, and Graziano Crinella.
His works are present in numerous public and private collections. He has organized numerous contemporary art exhibitions and cultural conferences for organizations and institutions.
