Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.
This work highlights Dino Brunori's post-Impressionist maturity. The composition is compressed entirely into the foreground, allowing no spatial depth. The painter's aim is not to capture the sensory aspect of the landscape, but to capture its very essence, its substance. To this end, the brushstroke, rich in texture, intervenes, fleshing out the objects, breaking them down into different planes, recording the vibrations of light and life within them. The sensory aspect, therefore, is completely transcended in a complex conception of pictorial practice in which the artist's gestures themselves play a fundamental role. In Dino Brunori's landscape paintings, the objects are constructed by the painter with broad, dense brushstrokes, and chromatically, the entire surface of the work is blended with a balanced palette of references and correspondences.
Dino Brunori was a Roman painter, born in 1925 and died in 1999. His pictorial language was always based on a post-impressionist pictorialism through which he developed his quest for a purity of volumes and their interaction in space and light.
