Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a constant aspiration for painters. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.

Indeed, formally, the painter depicts a plausible reality, but his language belongs to a dimension different from that of the perceptible world: the decontextualization is complete, and everything is captured in a magical atmosphere suspended in time. Sky and sea form a single sheet reflecting an almost dazzling light. Follico achieves this through an exceptional pictorial quality. Through a refined application of color, the entire space of his works is enveloped in a sulfurous and iridescent palette, always harmonized by a dominant hue. In this suspended dimension, the vessels, which seem almost to levitate rather than float, are rendered with short, rapid, and concise brushstrokes.
