Jean Calogero , pseudonym of Giovanni Calogero ( Catania , August 20 , 1922 – Catania , November 15 , 2001 ), was an Italian painter whose talent stood out among the great artists of the twentieth century, during the height of the cultural fervor of the city of Paris. In 1957, he was awarded the Grande Medaglia D'Argento, the city's highest recognition for living artists. In 1959, his works were included in the international art catalogue BENEZIT, establishing him as one of the most authoritative artists in world painting. His paintings are included in important public and private collections, such as the Museum of Modern Art in Paris (France), the Tokyo Museum of Art (Japan), the Museum of Modern Art in New York (USA), the Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo (Brazil), the Museum of Modern Art in Palermo, the Diocesan Museum of Catania and the MF Museum & Fashion of Marella Ferrera in Catania.
