Mattia Carioni - Torment in the Night

Mattia Carioni is a young artist living in Mozzanica, in the province of Bergamo. Born in 1994, he has developed a profound passion for painting, to which he is now dedicating himself with dedication. Mattia Carioni's approach is one of a compelling informal language through which the entirety of the sensory reality is reworked through gestures and colors. Mattia Carioni's style seems to draw primarily from the school of American Abstract Expressionism of the 1950s and 1960s. Indeed, his works have an almost minimalist feel in the overall compositional economy, where the pictorial concentration is contained within a neutral, undefined space. Yet, in the execution of the work, one finds an almost irrepressible expressive force emanating from the artist's gesture. This expressive force is determined by the clash of brushstrokes, charged with pictorial matter, clashing in a battle that is the same as the artist's inner self. The brush strokes intersect, implode, or diverge at the center of the canvas, following curved or diagonal trajectories, always following the artist's instincts. And then the colors meet, with their bright, almost aggressive tones, balanced by the ever-present black in Mattia Carioni's compositions.
