Description of the work
Description of the work
Carlo Miliucci was born in Aprilia in 1940. A self-taught painter, he has exhibited in solo and group shows throughout his career in various Italian cities, including Palermo, Udine, Milan, Rome, and Florence. He has received significant awards and recognitions in important exhibitions: among the many, the 2006 Alba Prize in Ferrara and the 2007 Medusa Aurea Trophy in Rome (30th edition) are worthy of mention. Critics Dino Marasà, Sandro Serradifalco, Alfonso Confalone, Nadine Giove, Vito Cracas, and others have written about him in newspapers, magazines, and art books.
“Carlo Miliucci's painting falls within that sphere of abstract art that is usually defined as “informal”.
An art characterized by an energetic and explosive use of color, where the chromatic intervention is the bearer of a dramatic and expressive force, through broad and incisive brushstrokes, without concern for formal adjustments of classic balance.
Carlo Miliucci combines a vibrant creativity with a pronounced use of gesture, making each painting the fruit of immediate action—instinctive, certainly, but at the same time refined and deliberate, supported by significant moments of concrete experiences and inner reflections.
The chromatic contrast is always held at a high emotional level: dazzling flashes of white, red, and blue rise from deep blacks, recreating unprecedented color alchemies of mesmerizing beauty. The material merges in a magmatic flow of intense and highly rhythmic paint, drawing the viewer into a captivating emotional journey.
With his ever-new and compelling creations, Miliucci reveals himself as a painter whose aesthetic experience does not confine itself solely to an ideal, intimate, and personal sphere, but is instead captivated by his own personal involvement in the events and issues of contemporary existence, which he addresses with active commitment and highlights with an original language.
However, he goes beyond the representation of reality, of which only a few traces remain in the pictorial dimension, aiming instead at a direct and immediate transposition of the perceptions and sensations experienced when he enters into relationship with things, people, ideas, recreated by his imagination in such a way as to become light, color, sign, tracing on the painted surface the complex moths of the soul's itineraries.
