Description of the work
Description of the work
The work Heteros – from the theme Tracce by Carlo Vighi presents itself as a visual reflection on the origins of thought and perception. The geometric shapes, numbers, and elements suspended against a cold, deep background seem to evoke traces of a primordial language, symbols left by a mind searching for meaning. The number "1," visible on both the right and left, can be interpreted as a reference to original unity, to the idea of principle, in line with Plato's belief that wonder is the spark from which philosophy is born. The work is made in bas-relief with wooden materials, then painted with cool, light colors: blue, pale green, and white. The shapes are sculpted and then defined through a pictorial technique that gives the surface an almost physical, highly material presence. The white geometries stand out against the background, creating a delicate yet incisive visual contrast. The composition is balanced yet deliberately fragmented, as if each element were part of a larger, incomplete narrative. The arrangement of the signs, the visual rhythm, and the choice of colors suggest a sense of anticipation and contemplation, almost as if to freeze time in a moment of silent reflection. Carlo Vighi was born in Ravenna in 1951. From a young age, he devoted himself to the study of music, drawing, and painting, exhibiting for the first time at just 14 years old. After his studies, he worked as a designer and manager, combining his profession with ongoing artistic activity. He graduated in Communication Sciences and, since the 1980s, has devoted himself increasingly to painting. He lives and works in Volta Mantovana, where he organizes courses, conferences, and publishes art treatises. His artistic career is marked by ongoing research: from realism to expressionism and metaphysics, he has developed an original abstract language. His works are distinguished by the care taken in drawing, the depth of light, and the balance between form and color. In both his portraits and his abstract compositions, Vighi demonstrates a profound sensitivity that translates emotions and thoughts into vivid images.
