Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting and a backdrop, but also as a subject in its own right. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been one of the greatest aspirations of artists throughout history. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the 16th century; and finally with the depiction of each of the vibrations of light on objects in Impressionism.
Casio Boada's style presents a perfect fusion of realism and a delicate impressionistic interpretation of sensory data. Indeed, on the one hand, the artist accurately depicts reality in all its details, with a strong sense of everyday life, starting from a simple experience. On the other hand, his refined painting technique allows him to convey a sense of immediacy to the canvas, thanks to rapid brushstrokes rich in atmospheric vibrations. Light thus strikes the objects, but without interfering with the precise depiction of reality. The entire composition is therefore characterized by a clear brilliance revealed in the play of shadows. This is also why his use of a soft and delicate color palette is noteworthy.
Casimiro (Casio) Boada Matas (Palamos, Girona 1888 – Barcelona 1980): known as Casio Boada. He trained at the Sant Jordi School of Fine Arts in Barcelona, which he complemented with classes at the Circulo Artistico. A disciple of Gelabert and Francisco Vidal Palmada, from 1918 he held solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions in Barcelona. After a stay of several years in Paris, he returned to Barcelona in 1932 and showed his work at the Salon de Montjuïc in Barcelona. He participated in the Barcelona exhibitions (1918, 1919, and 1921) and the Spring Salons (1932, 1933, and 1936). After the Civil War, he resumed his exhibitions and work throughout Catalonia. His Neo-Impressionist painting focuses primarily on the Catalan landscape. He is represented in numerous private collections. Cited in the dictionary Rafols d'Artistes Contemporanis de Catalunnya i Balears (Vol. 1). Inserted in the Llibre Institut d'Estudis Catalans, cited in the "Repertori de catalegs d'exposicions col.lectives d'art a Catalunya" (until 1938).
