Claudio Calisti - In the Mental Fog

Claudio Calisti's entire artistic production is grounded in a surrealist-symbolist approach that leads him to develop complex iconographies. In some works, he draws direct inspiration from masters of Surrealism such as Magritte (when he favors figurative compositions in which reality is distorted by disturbing elements) or Dalí (when his brush creates worlds of biological concretions where, mysteriously, references to classical art appear).

Formally speaking, Claudio Calisti is an eclectic artist, capable of modulating his style depending on the type of work. In his more figurative compositions, he pursues a hyperrealism traditionally linked to historical surrealism. In other works, however, he also expresses himself in a more abstract and gestural manner, sometimes even achieving informal results.
