Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has always been an artist's aspiration. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the 16th century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.

Claudio Pelissier's landscape style is rooted in the pictorial environment in which he grew up, that of the Labronica school, with its post-Macchiaioli and post-Impressionist tendencies. His execution is attentive to a precise, naturalistic rendering, without any concessions to subjective interpretation. The work is then enlivened with hatching full of vibrant chromatic and luminous effects, lending freshness and immediacy to the view.

Claudio Pelissero, known as Claudio Pelissier, was born in Livorno in 1944. Winner of the City of Paris Prize at the very beginning of his career (in 1968), he participated in exhibitions and installations throughout Italy for years, winning numerous awards.
