Description of the work
Description of the work
A collection of eighteen sheets of yellowed paper (212 x 152 mm), with a cover of yellowed grey rustic cardboard, make up this manuscript with drawings and texts dating between 1503 and 1506.
At the time of Pompeo Leoni, in the 17th century, the codex was bound together with Manuscript B, and remained so until Guglielmo Libri, a professor of mathematics and historian of science, around the mid-19th century, managed to steal the entire codex using the acid-soaked thread method and then sell it to Count Giacomo Manzoni of Lugo, whose heirs in turn sold it to the Russian prince Teodoro Sabachnikoff.
