Description of the work
Description of the work
The painting can be defined as a genre scene, that is, the depiction of an episode of everyday life that, apparently, lacks any significant element. These types of domestic subjects were long considered minor and only began to spread in Western art starting in the 17th century. Only with the development of 19th-century realism did everyday subjects become considered as important as historical or religious ones.
The work reflects the style of the painter Enrico Reycend quite well, who throughout his career had looked closely to Corot and practiced a naturalism strongly influenced by Impressionism. In this painting, we see how color dominates the composition. With minute hatching, the artist captures the subjects with freshness and immediacy. The way in which individual chromatic and luminous vibrations are captured in an exquisitely Impressionist technique is remarkable.
The painter, inspired by the Turin master Enrico Reycend, shows he has fully grasped the spirit of his artistic language. The composition is balanced, with a perspective-based approach. Within this balance, the artist adopts the impressionistic brushstrokes typical of Enrico Reycend.
