Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has always been an artist's aspiration. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the 16th century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.
In this work, artist Cristiano Tassinari creates a sort of expressionist landscape in which the panoramic view undergoes a remarkable process of synthesis. The drawing disappears, giving way to areas of color that intersect, forming a chromatic mosaic. Light generates space, measured by the reflections on the water's surface. It's interesting to note how the paint layer almost blurs the image, undoubtedly suggesting a connection with modern technology, photography, or video. Even the lines on the "screen" suggest an element of disturbance similar to the technological image.
Cristiano Tassinari is an artist born in Forlì in 1980. He trained at the Academies of Bologna and Milan. He lives and works in Berlin. Among the exhibitions in which Cristiano Tassinari has displayed his works are important solo shows such as Be Clear at the Opificio delle idee in Rovereto (2012), Lichtraum at the First Gallery in Rome (2011), Mnemosyne at Spazio 8 in Milan (2006). Among the group exhibitions: Disappearing at the Centro Candiani in Mestre, the Emilia-Romagna Pavilion at the Venice Biennale in Reggio Emilia, and the exhibition of the finalists of the Cairo Prize at the Palazzo della Permanente in Milan (2011).
