Description of the work
Description of the work
The work is an abstract composition. "Abstract" derives from the Latin term "abstrahere," which means to extract or draw out. The process of abstraction, in fact, consists of eliminating the particular and individual aspects of an object to derive a universal concept. From Kandinsky to Mondrian, from Pollock to Mirò, many painters have pushed the process of abstraction to the limit in their works, paradoxically creating pure forms and pure colors that do not exist in nature, or translating their emotions and instincts into images.
This composition fundamentally draws on a search for pure colors; as we can see, the structure is composed of large chromatic patches. However, the artist goes beyond a simple exercise in abstraction, as his research also veers toward the informal. It is precisely between the segments formed by the colored areas that an almost biomorphic entity, characterized by a heavily textured surface, rages.
Cristoforo Legname, a painter trained in Florence, lived in Turin, where he worked for a long time at Fiat. However, his painting achieved some success. His style was influenced by a variety of styles, from Expressionism to Abstraction to Informalism.
