Cuppici - Landscape

Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Cuppici is a naturalist, deeply rooted in landscape painting, which he interprets in his paintings by recontextualizing it within a contemporary, gestural sensibility. In Cuppici's paintings, the image of nature, the phenomenal world, is translated into an informal composition, yet the painter leaves the keys to understanding the work's meaning scattered. The curve of the grassy slopes can be discerned even in the dissolution of the pictorial space, and through the gradation of colors, the distinction between earth and sky is perceived.
