Description of the work
Description of the work
The human figure has always been at the center of artistic research. Since the classical age, the naturalistic rendering of human anatomy has been a primary goal of painters and sculptors throughout history. The representation of the nude is the ultimate expression of this aspiration, pervasive across all eras and stylistic trends. Indeed, in addition to the naturalistic interpretations of the Renaissance and various classicisms, which aimed for a truthful and detailed representation of the human body, the nude has also been a central figure in the new aesthetic concepts brought about by the historical avant-garde, such as Cubism, Expressionism, and Surrealism.
In this painting, painter Daniela Bressanutti displays all her technical skill, achieving a completely naturalistic and technically perfect rendering. The model's anatomy is depicted in minute detail, but it is above all these details that determine the great truthfulness and naturalness of this body. The softness of the skin, which almost seems to suggest the tactile effect of the skin. The interaction of the hair with the surrounding space, which blends harmoniously with the atmosphere. The balance of light that theatrically casts the model's head in shadow.
Daniela Bressanutti is a self-taught artist from Bolzano. She continued to paint even while working in advertising graphics. She has exhibited her work in numerous shows in Italy and Switzerland. Initially specializing in oil painting and lithographs, she later experimented with other techniques such as watercolor and etching.
