Description of the work
Since the 19th century, when painting began to deal with the various
aspects of bourgeois life, the world of circuses and street artists has been
a theme treated by various authors. With the development of the symbolist and
expressionists between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century the character of the
acrobat, storyteller or mask have started to have great
fortune, as they are functional in the development of complex iconographies, from
hidden and mysterious meanings. We can cite as an example the figures of
artists and harlequins immortalised by Picasso in his “blue” and “rose” periods.
Grown up in the context of the “New Futurism” Dario Brevi can be
numbered among those Italian artists, such as Marco Lodola and Ugo Nespolo, who
have animated the scene of our pop art. In his relief technique,
where the brilliance of acrylic takes shape and relief on shaped supports of
MDF, however the essential and rigorous design of Lodola and Nespolo melts

Dario Brevi Limbiate, born in Limbiate in 1955, where he lives and works. He is

in tin for Ballantine's Scotch Whisky. In 2005 he specially created
a work for the entrance to the new Solvay-Pharma headquarters in Grugliasco
Turin. In 2006 he created a hand-painted multiple for Swatch that
accompanies a watch from the latest collection in a special package.
