David - Horses

A noble animal, a symbol of beauty and harmony, the horse has repeatedly been a prominent subject in the history of art. Since the fourteenth century, its presence has always been obligatory in battle scenes and equestrian monuments, and painters have always found it a challenge to depict it with anatomical precision and naturalistic rendering.

The artist's language can certainly be considered expressionist. The subject is subjected to a very pronounced synthesis. The horses are outlined with a few graphic strokes on a two-dimensional space. The color is very strong and is applied in broad, compact areas.

Artist David uses a language strongly inspired by historical Expressionism, particularly the German movement Die Brucke. Reality is reduced in an almost brutal manner and interpreted through the use of colors with symbolic and spiritual meaning.
