Davide Berrettini - Montaperti

Every Sienese knows Montaperti, knows the place and a little of the history of the battle, perhaps the only one, in which the Republic of Siena defeated the Florentines.

Montaperti is a hill a few kilometers from Siena near the Arbia river, below which there is a plain where the battle took place.

Since I was a child I always imagined what this battle might have been like, how the two armies would have faced each other... Dante also mentions the battle in his Divine Comedy, making us understand that it must have been very bloody.

But we Tuscans always try to downplay every situation; it comes almost naturally to us, and so I tried to see "MY" Battle of Montaperti, made not only of weapons and blood, but above all of simple mockery, because I believe that everything can always be seen from another point of view...
