Description of the work
Description of the work
"Sensation in Green" depicts an urban traffic scene on a rainy day, with a stretch of wet road reflecting car headlights and the artificial light of streetlamps. The central shot draws the eye toward the horizon, where traffic dissolves into the diffuse light of the sky. The landscape elements—vehicles, signs, and road barriers—emerge from the context clearly but unobtrusively, like fragments of a shared experience. The atmosphere is that of a suspended moment, familiar yet removed from the noise of reality, where the urban landscape becomes a silent scene, traversed by an implicit but non-protagonist human presence. Frisoni employs a rigorous composition and a central perspective that accentuates the scene's depth. The dominant and all-encompassing color green acts as a perceptual filter: it doesn't describe, but transforms, lending the work an almost visionary tone. The brushstrokes are textured and bold, conveying the physicality of the road surface and the reflection of the water. The cold, diffuse light reveals rather than illuminates, creating a subtle contrast between reality and perception. The result is a pictorial work that blends observation and interpretation, successfully evoking an interior landscape despite originating from an urban fragment. Davide Frisoni, born in Rimini in 1965, is a multifaceted artist who has made the street his primary field of artistic exploration. After studying at the Rimini Art School and the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, he embarked on an international exhibition journey, participating in events such as Art Basel Miami, the Venice Biennale, and the BP Award at the National Portrait Gallery in London. His works, present in public and private collections in Italy and abroad, depict urban landscapes, visual reflections, and states of mind, with a style that blends realism and abstraction. In recent years, he has expanded his research to include environmental and spiritual themes, while maintaining the expressive power of his pictorial style.
