Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has always been an artist's aspiration. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the 16th century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.

Davoli is very attentive to a naturalistic rendering of the landscape and possesses a confident technique that allows him to faithfully convey what he sees on canvas. The atmospheric rendering is flawless, yet the painter avoids overly dramatic painterly effects, favoring a glossy texture. Light permeates the entire scene, and the artist is also capable, with quick brushstrokes, of capturing all the luminous vibrations of the leaves or the surface of the lake. The work is also very balanced compositionally.

The painter Davoli displays a high level of academic technique. He remains faithful to a concept of art based on the imitation of nature and allows little subjectivity. His style, therefore, is highly realistic, yet shows some traces of idealization. His technique also yields to impressionistic hatching, especially when depicting the effect of light on objects.
