Debora Afflitto is an artist who lives and works in Prato. A self-taught painter, she has already developed a certain personality and stylistic autonomy. We can confidently say that Debora Afflitto's approach is expressionistic in its attempt to synthesize reality, driven by a strong desire to capture the true essence of things. This is accomplished almost exclusively through color, which is applied using broad brushstrokes that construct the subjects on a substantially two-dimensional surface. All this leads to a strong sense of abstraction through which the work, while maintaining a close connection with objective reality, takes on a powerful symbolic value. The figures, outlined with energetic, almost gestural strokes, appear trembling, charged with life and existential vibrations. Chromatically, in keeping with her expressionist nature, Debora Afflitto favors extremely vivid colors that transcend the objective, natural, and delve into the realm of emotion and sensory perception. However, the painter eschews the aggressiveness of historical expressionism, embracing a coloristic balance of more serene tones.
