The work draws on an Informal aesthetic language. The devastation wrought by World War II left a profound mark on Western civilization, which in the visual arts also resulted in an inability to communicate. For some artists, this challenge led to a complete rejection of any visual language, resulting in the birth of Informal Art. The various Informal movements are certainly connected to American Abstract Expressionism, especially with regard to the gestural component, but they go further in their rejection of any figurative element, even geometric. Their research focuses instead on the material from which their works are composed.

Di Fazio's interpretation of the Informal aesthetic is highly interesting and original. His painting style is decidedly gestural, in the sense that he infuses his entire inner self and instinct into his gestures. This, however, leads him to accumulate on the canvas a series of sign elements, layers of color, smears, and drippings that create an autonomous structure, almost mechanomorphic in nature. However, the subject is deliberately left without reference points, and the incommunicability and hermeticism typical of Informal art are preserved. Indeed, even though Di Fazio's painting is not specifically material, these accumulations of gestures nonetheless convey a sense of heaviness similar to the more brutalist interpretations of Informal art.
