Description of the work
Description of the work
The human figure has always been at the center of artistic research. Since the classical age, the naturalistic rendering of human anatomy has been a primary goal of painters and sculptors throughout history. The representation of the nude is the ultimate expression of this aspiration, pervasive across all eras and stylistic trends. Indeed, in addition to the naturalistic interpretations of the Renaissance and various classicisms, which aimed for a truthful and detailed representation of the human body, the nude has also been a central theme in the new aesthetic concepts brought about by the historical avant-garde movements, such as Cubism, Expressionism, and Surrealism.
In this work, painter Dino Brunori uses the traditional iconographic theme of the female nude to create a sort of manifesto for his pictorial language. Central to this artist's work is the exaltation of volumes and their interaction within the space of the work. Indeed, we can see how the plasticity of the female body is perfectly delineated in full, even slightly expressionistically inflated forms. The rest of the work is composed of an intense pictorial synthesis. The presence of the body generates chromatic and material vibrations in the surrounding space, which the artist manages to express with her gestures. The figure blends perfectly into this lively chromatic dynamism, as we can see in the structural and synthetic application of the white sheet, which blends into the painted surface. In terms of palette, the tendency toward monochrome, found in many of Dino Brunori's landscapes, prevails.
Dino Brunori was a Roman painter, born in 1925 and died in 1999. His pictorial language was always based on a post-impressionist pictorialism through which he developed his quest for a purity of volumes and their interaction in space and light.
