Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.
This drawing is very interesting and valuable for understanding Dino Migliorini's aesthetic vision. The artist from Rignano sees the world as a collection of pure lines and volumes. In this drawing, it's as if reality has been stripped of all sensory data to reveal the beauty of its rationality and geometry. The graphic line is very elegant, and the artist also adds some shading with light hatching.
Dino Migliorini was a painter originally from Rignano, where he was born in 1907 and passed away in 2005. He trained as an artist in Florence. Having moved to the Tuscan capital in 1924, he became an illustrator for the Nuovo Giornale newspaper and associated with Ardengo Soffici and Ottone Rosai. His first solo exhibition was also held in Florence. In the 1950s, his fame spread beyond the region and throughout Italy, with over 100 exhibitions, consistently acclaimed by critics and the public.
