Description of the work
Description of the work
Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has always been an artist's aspiration. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance, then with atmospheric rendering in the 16th century, up until the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.
Dino Migliorini's artistic journey is equally dominated by instinct and compositional rigor. In his recurring subjects, tied to the countryside and peasant life, he fundamentally begins with a post-Impressionist pictorial style, in which brushstrokes construct forms and volumes through a complex intersection of planes. Each brushstroke is placed on different planes, creating concrete, solid volumes. Yet at the same time, Migliorini's color and brushstrokes capture all the vibrations of the objects, which are not only luminous and atmospheric, but also existential.
Dino Migliorini, originally from Rignano, where he was born in 1907, received his artistic training in Florence. Having moved to the Tuscan capital in 1924, he became an illustrator for the Nuovo Giornale newspaper and associated with Ardengo Soffici and Ottone Rosai. His first solo exhibition was also held in Florence. In the 1950s, his fame spread beyond the region and throughout Italy, with over 100 exhibitions, consistently acclaimed by critics and the public.
