Description of the work
Description of the work
Flowers as a subject in themselves began to appear in still lifes, a genre that emerged in the early 17th century. Subsequently, painters, especially the Impressionists, increasingly focused on the floral world as an extraordinary opportunity to capture vibrant colors and light. Thus, flowers began to appear not only in vases, but also immersed in their natural landscape. While initially a pretext for painters to attempt a photographic reproduction of reality, with contemporary art, the subject of flowers also becomes a way of interpreting reality.
Dino Uberti, a renowned collector and painter himself, confirms the distinctive characteristics of his artistic style, which are close to Lombard Chiarism. These flowers display the same calligraphic touch, the same brushstroke technique. Everything is imbued with an intangible, two-dimensional consistency, typical of Chiarism, in a refined, post-Impressionist vein. The stylization of the petals and leaves is typical, resulting in a representation brimming with freshness and expressiveness.
Born in Zumaglia (Biella) on March 25, 1885, Dino Uberti's legal training led to a law degree, along with a serious artistic education. Although amateur, it revealed considerable talent as a painter, which he confirmed when, having abandoned his entrepreneurial career, he was able to devote himself fully to his art. Although an amateur, Dino Uberti always loved art and practiced it; he frequented the most prominent artists, exhibited in Milan at Scopinich's, in Florence, Turin, Brussels, and at the Bottega d'Arte in Livorno, where in 1945 he presented around twenty paintings for the first time. He passed away in Livorno in 1949.
