Description of the work
Description of the work
In the history of art, a clear distinction can often be made between figurative and abstract stylistic movements. However, when an artist's goal is to represent an object that resonates with phenomenal reality but is also charged with hidden and symbolic meaning, this boundary can become blurred. Symbolism and Expressionism are emblematic stylistic movements in their conceptual interpretation of reality, with an iconic rendering of images and a symbolic interpretation in the use of color.
The print demonstrates how Domenico Boscolo's style always straddles the boundary between phenomenal reality and the noumenal reality of the object. Indeed, his drawing structure is extremely solid, anchored in the perceptible world before his eyes. However, his interpretation of this scene demonstrates that his perception of the subject, and especially of the subject in space, transcends the phenomenon. The representation is conducted along multiple lines, according to a non-unique perspective, to explore reality more deeply.
Domenico Boscolo Natta was born in Chioggia in 1925 and began painting as a self-taught artist before he turned twenty. After the war, he enrolled at the Venice Academy. In 1951, he was invited to the Burano Prize, where he received significant recognition. In 1956, the Opera Bevilacqua La Masa granted him an art studio. From 1960 onwards, he traveled extensively and, over the past 25 years, has exhibited his work in various exhibitions. He passed away in Piombino in 2002.
