Description of the work
Description of the work
Animal depictions in art have ancient origins, appearing even in primitive cave paintings. For religious reasons, various types of animals appear in the works of various ancient civilizations. It was especially in the Middle Ages, within the International Gothic style, that animal depictions became widespread as true life portraits, both within works of art and in notebooks of drawings and sketches. The presence of animals as subjects in art remained constant until the contemporary era. In this painting, the animal subject merges with that of the genre scene, meeting another widespread theme in the history of art: the hunting scene.
Doveva's style represents a perfect fusion of realism and a delicate, impressionistic rendering of sensory details. On the one hand, the artist precisely describes the scene in all its details, with a strong sense of hunting reality. On the other, his refined painting technique allows him to convey a sense of immediacy to the canvas, thanks to rapid, diluted brushstrokes. Light thus reflects on the view, but without interfering with the precise description of reality. The entire scene is thus characterized by a clear luminosity. The use of a palette of soft, delicate colors also serves this purpose.
Doveva is known for his simple and direct style, which embodies a genuinely realistic approach to art. In his work, sensory data is not idealized but rather reproduced as it is in reality. For this reason, his figurative language draws on life-like reproduction but is distinguished by a certain impressionistic approach that brings a lively and immediate quality to the representation.
