Elisa Pagni - Split

Elisa Pagni is an artist from La Spezia for whom painting coincides with an interior gaze, capable of bringing to light her own subjectivity, its spirituality and its conflicts. Her favorite subjects are faces, often self-portraits, that seek to proclaim their inner selves to the world. For this reason, Elisa Pagni's language tends toward expressionism, in the dual interpretation of a synthesis of the subject and a strong characterization of tones and features. This original expressionism, moreover, is nourished by a lively pop vein that leads the painter to create compositions made of dynamic lines and brightly colored areas. The introspective analysis begins with the subject but can extend far beyond, into the more hidden reaches of the subconscious. Formally, the artist thus moves from expressionism to surrealism, distorting the features of the faces and reworking them according to various existential interpretations.
