Description of the work
Description of the work
The work is an abstract composition. "Abstract" derives from the Latin term "abstrahere," meaning to extract or draw out. The process of abstraction, in fact, consists of eliminating the particular and individual aspects of an object to derive a universal concept. From Kandinsky to Mondrian, from Pollock to Mirò, many painters have pushed the process of abstraction to the limit in their works, paradoxically creating pure forms and colors that do not exist in nature, or translating their emotions and instincts into images. Elvio Becheroni is one of the leading exponents of abstract art in Italy.
In many of Elvio Becheroni's abstract works, he maintains a certain connection with reality, giving rise to geometric landscapes, as in this case. Reality is interpreted in an extremely synthetic manner, with an almost brutal reduction. The surface is completely two-dimensional, with no concessions to spatial depth. The brushstrokes delineate the forms in a very rational, rigorous manner. Color is used according to an emotional and spiritual interpretation, without any connection to reality. Compositionally, the work is constructed according to a perfect balance of chromatic zones. It is, therefore, the harmony of pure forms and pure colors that expresses the artist's perception of reality, in the finest tradition of abstraction.
Painter and sculptor Elvio Becheroni was born in Florence in 1934. He practiced art in Milan in his studio at Via Fatebenefratelli 23. In 1973, during a stay in Albisola, he created several interesting ceramic sculptures in Lino Grosso's workshops. His artistic output placed him among the protagonists of Abstract Art in Italy. Elvio Becheroni passed away in 2000.
