Homage from the Founder of the Italian Encyclopedia, Count Senator Giovanni Treccani degli Alfieri
The encyclopedia was promoted in 1925 by G. Gentile and created thanks to the patronage of G. Treccani , who established and financed the G. Treccani Institute. In 1933, publication was taken over by the Institute of the Italian Encyclopedia, founded by G. Treccani and financed and administered by five institutions, including the Istituto Poligrafico dello Stato. With the contribution of the most qualified scholars, the first 35 volumes were published between 1929 and 1937, followed over the following decades by the index volumes and six appendices, for a total of 57 volumes.
