Ennio Calabria always tends toward extremely dynamic, whirlwind compositions, charged with an almost irrepressible expressive vigor. To this end, he uses a highly animated, nervous line, which, in the case of this work, takes the woman's sumptuous skirt as a pretext to create a complex linear rhythm. All this is combined with the equally dynamic use of color, in keeping with the expressionistic character of the entire work.

Ennio Calabria, born in Tripoli in 1937, is one of the leading figures of contemporary figurative art. Besides being a painter, he is also known as a graphic designer and illustrator of book covers and posters. Throughout his career, he has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including important retrospectives in Milan at the Rotonda della Besana in 1985 and in Rome at Castel Sant'Angelo in 1987.
