Landscape has always been a central theme in artistic research, both as a setting, as a backdrop, and as a subject itself. The naturalistic depiction of landscape has been a major aspiration for artists of every era. Each historical period has offered its own interpretation of landscape, contributing to the evolution of its depiction: first with an exploration of space, through Brunelleschi's perspective in the early Renaissance; then with atmospheric rendering in the sixteenth century; and finally with the depiction of every single vibration of light on objects in Impressionism.

Artist Enrico Carzaniga stands out for his landscape painting, in which he seeks distinctive views, imbued with a distinctive lyricism. Hence his penchant for picturesque views and evocative framing. Formally, this translates into a highly animated and dynamic style that ensures freshness and immediacy of execution. His brushstrokes are therefore characterized by a remarkably cursive touch, made up of sudden flickers, effectively capturing the vibrations of light on objects. This is particularly evident in the rendering of the buildings and vegetation. The entire composition is imbued with a calm realism and a freshness deriving from the artist's technical prowess.

Enrico Carzaniga, born in Bernareggio, 1941-2021. He began working at just 12 years old in a restorer's workshop in Lissone, and then at Pirelli from 1967 to 1984. He subsequently attended the Agazzi painting school in Mapello and the academies in Carrara and Bergamo, where he met leading figures in the art world. His talent led him to exhibit in several European countries, including France and Germany, as well as in his beloved Brianza.
